East Palestine, OH - January 26, 2008 - Mary Alice Barrett, 92, formerly of East Palestine, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.
Mrs. Barrett was born April 28, 1915 in Mt. Jackson, PA, a daughter of Edgar and Mabel Warner Metz and had lived in this area all of her life.
She had been the owner/operator of the former Barrett Dry Cleaners, East Palestine for 30 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to that, she had worked at the former W. S. George Pottery. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death on July 30, 1997 by her husband, Rolland E. Barrett, whom she married July 22, 1950 and a sister, Dorothy McConnell.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Greg (Mary Lou) Gishbaugher of Darlington, PA; two granddaughters, Kristen Graeser and Amy (Jason) Vogel, both of East Palestine; and two great granddaughters, Kami Graeser and Kaitlyn Vogel.
Private burial will be held Monday at the Petersburg Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
The family would like to express their thanks to the caring staff at Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana, for the wonderful care that Mary Alice received and ask that any material tributes be directed to the Activity Fund at Parkside.
