Enon Valley, PA - January 22, 2008 - Martin J. "Bud" Katchmar, 84, of 722 Hollow Road, died Tuesday morning at his home.
Mr. Katchmar was born October 11, 1923 in Clearfield, PA, a son of Michael and Katherine Wichryk Katchmar and had lived in this area most of his life. He had worked at the former Natco Company in East Palestine, OH and later he had been employed as a laborer at Babcock & Wilcox in Beaver Falls, PA. He was also a self-employed farmer most of his life and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Darlington, PA. A loving man, he was devoted to his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
His wife, the former Mae Jackson, whom he married May 13, 1959 died October 16, 1993.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas L. (Carol) McKim of Enon Valley, PA; two grandsons, Thomas Matthew McKim of Pittsburgh, PA and Michael James (Ashley D. Burkett) McKim of East Palestine, OH; and a sister, Stella Swedko of Pittsburgh, PA.
Five sisters, Julia Fredrickson, Rose Katchmar, Ann Sobun, Katherine Verstosy, and Victoria Katchmar and a brother, John Katchmar are also deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Thursday.
