Martha Mae Jarvis

Columbiana – Martha Mae Jarvis, 85, of Columbiana, died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem.

Mrs. Jarvis was born October 16, 1931 in Columbiana, a daughter of the late Elmer and Henrietta Luplow Kurtz and had lived in the area most of her life. She was a graduate of the former North Lima High School.

She had been employed as a waitress at Timberlanes in Salem for several years as well as the Saxon Club, Salem. She had also worked as a nurses aid. She was a member of the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren and Compassionate Friends. She enjoyed music, flowers, fairs, festivals, and “eating out”.

She is survived by a daughter, Luetta Jarvis of Salem; two sons, Alan (Kim Willard) Jarvis of Leetonia and Lee (Rosalie) Kurtz of Columbiana; two grandchildren, Tiffany (Eric) Nicely and Larry Dean(Colleen) Welton; and four great grandchildren, Jarrett Welton, Danielle Welton, Ashlyn Nicely, and Trenton Nicely.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Jarvis and two brothers, James Kurtz and David Kurtz.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren with the Rev. John Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in Midway Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5-7 p.m. on Monday. Funeral arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Hill Church of the Brethren.
