East Palestine - Martha L. Freer, 85, formerly of East Palestine, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana.
Mrs. Freer was born July 19, 1925 in Unity, a daughter of Howard C. and Ethel Mollenkopf Rauch and had lived in this area all of her life.
She was a homemaker and also had worked several years at the former J. E. Quay Company in East Palestine. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, the Esther Circle, and the Dorcas Circle of the church. She had also been a member of the Unity Grange, Unity Ruritan Club, East Palestine Senior Citizens and East Palestine Garden Club.
Her husband, Edward Oakley Freer, whom she married June 16, 1946 died September 23, 1998.
She is survived by a son, Ronald L. (Toni) Freer of East Palestine; and two grandsons, Major Josef Freer, US Army and Steven Freer.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Dwaine E. Freer; a sister, Mary Wisler; and a brother, John Rauch.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with the Reverend David Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
