New Waterford-May 15, 2007-Margaret I. Smith, age 95, formerly of New Waterford died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday at Essex I of Salem following a long illness.
Mrs. Smith was born November 8, 1911 in Unity, OH a daughter of Thomas William and Elva L. Davidson Lipp and had lived in this area all of her life.
She was a cook for the former Bulldog Restaurant for 10 years retiring in 1969. She had also worked for W.S. George and Royal China. She was a member of New Waterford United Methodist Church. Her husband, Lloyd C. Smith, whom she married June 29, 1927 died October 24, 1954.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Steve (Mary) Pavelko of Columbiana, Mrs. E. Louise May and Mrs. Virginia Semon of East Palestine; one son, Donald (Sue) Smith of East Palestine; two daughters-in-law, Edna Smith of Columbiana and Virginia Smith of New Waterford; one sister, Mrs. Erma Huston of East Palestine; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
Two sons, Roy and Lloyd Smith, two sisters, Virginia Dicken and Viola Selby and a brother, Jesse Lipp preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine with Reverend Brian Hassel officiating. Burial will follow in New Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
