Margaret "Marge" J. Valentine

Margaret "Marge" J. Valentine, age 91, of Leetonia, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Whispering Pines Village in Columbiana.

She was born on August 12, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Duncan and Margaret Kelly McNiven.

Marge was a graduate of Southside High School in Youngstown and had worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the area. She also worked with her husband as owner and bookkeep for the family business, Valentine’s Amoco in Leetonia. Besides working, Marge volunteered at Leetonia Schools for over 20 years. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leetonia and loved attending Bible study. Mostly, Marge loved being a grandma. Her passion was her grandchildren. She attended every school function, sporting event and extracurricular activity they had. She was a constant fixture in their lives and will be deeply missed.

Her husband, Robert John Valentine, whom she married on January 21, 1961, preceded her in death on, June 15, 2018.

Marge is survived by her son, Daniel (Jennifer) Valentine of Leetonia; sister, Sally Wilson of Akron; grandchildren, Danielle (Elmer) Brown of Leetonia, Malorie Valentine of Kettering, OH, Aaron (Danielle) Valentine of North Lima, Kelsie (Josh) Smith of Akron, Cody (Kayla Kozar) Valentine of Leetonia, and Corey (Callie) Valentine of New Waterford; four great grandchildren, Dylan Brown, Kyle Brown, Rebecca Valentine, and Vincent Valentine.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Bob Valentine and Rick Valentine, and two daughters-in-law, Denise Valentine, and Dana Valentine.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Whispering Pines and the team at Southern Care Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Marge.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, 11:00 am at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Leetonia where the family will again receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be officiated by Pastor Kari Lankford.

Burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery, Leetonia.

Donations may be made in Marge’s memory to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 29 Spruce St, Leetonia, OH 44431.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
