Enon Valley, PA-December 26, 2007-Margaret P. Klepfer, 80, of 2604 State Route 351, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Salem Community Hospital following a long illness.
Mrs. Klepfer was born September 2, 1927 in North Lima, OH, a daughter of Hurlan A. and Myrtle M. Bartholomew Burkey and had lived in the Enon Valley area most of her life.
She was a Justice of the Peace and a tax collector for the Little Beaver Township for several years. She also worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as a toll collector at Gateway.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg, OH. She had also been a member of the Republican Committee in Lawrence County, PA.
Her husband, Harold W. Klepfer, whom she married August 31, 1945, died December 18, 2000.
She is survived by her five daughters, Maxine (Glenn) Stewart and Deborah Fosnaught both of East Palestine, OH, Charlene (Robert) Libengood of Blairsville, PA, Margaret Christmann of New Brighton, PA and Lori Klepfer of Cleveland, OH; a sister, Erma Kyser of Columbiana; a sister-in-law, Ruth Burkey of Columbiana; a brother, Walter (Betty) Burkey of Columbiana; seven grandchildren and six great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Fisher and a brother, Robert Burkey.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH with the Reverend John Bartholomew officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Enon Valley Fire Department or the Salem Community Hospital.
