Leetonia, OH-June 21, 2012-Mabel E. Yates, 96, formerly of Leetonia, died at 11:30 am Thursday at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana.
Mrs. Yates was born June 11, 1916 in Lisbon, a daughter of Ralph and Clara Arnold Walter and had lived in this area all of her life. Mabel was a 1934 graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon and worked for various nursing homes in the area for 21 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leetonia.
Her husband Kenneth F. Yates, Sr. whom she married July 2, 1961, died May 11, 2001.
She is survived by three daughters, Vivian Stokes of Columbiana, Janis (Richard) Crihfield of Leetonia and Ethel (Larry) Lehman Campbell of Columbiana; five step-sons, Kenneth Yates, Jr. of Middleville, Michigan, Robert Yates, Jeffrey Yates, Alexander Yates and Donald Yates all of Evansville, IN; nine grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Lamb and two great grandchildren, Rachelle Lehman and Kurt Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, June 23, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 am-noon on Saturday at the church.
Material tributes in Mabel's name may be made to Angels for Animals or the Beth and Kevin Hall Scholarship Fund at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
