East Palestine - January 21, 2009 - Mabel I. Thomas, 76, of 5039 Latta Road, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center Boardman Campus following a long illness.
Mrs. Thomas was born June 3, 1932 in Richwood, West Virginia, a daughter of James and Etta Cunningham Donaldson and had lived in this area all of her life. Mabel was a homemaker.
Her husband, John N. Thomas, whom she married June 2, 1953 died December 28, 2002.
She is survived by four daughters, Sheila (Raymond) Fox of Negley, Cheryl (Brad) Gonzales of Lisbon, Tammy Thomas of East Palestine and Marcie Thomas of New Waterford; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Flannagan, two brothers, James A. Donaldson and Robert Donaldson and a great granddaughter, Kylee N. Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Pastor Mark Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
