Leetonia - December 9, 2006 - Louise "Midge" McFarland, age 69, of 365 Spruce Street, went home to be with God Saturday evening at her residence following a short illness. A loving mother and grandmother, she left this earth with her husband, children, and grandchildren at her side.

Midge was born September 23, 1937 in Washingtonville, a daughter of James W. and Agnes Dickinson Miller and had lived in this area all of her life. She had been employed as a laborer at Kentzel Farms, Greenford for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Raymond McFarland, longtime sexton at Oakdale Cemetery, whom she married November 30, 1954; four daughters, Mrs. David "Thelma" Foreman of Salem, Mrs. Ronald (Ella) Shasteen and Diana Good, both of Lisbon, and Kim Swan of Leetonia; a son, Clarence "Jake" McFarland of Leetonia; three sisters, Harriett Swaney of Lisbon, Delores Kidd of Canton, and Dorothy Sailing of Texas; eight grandchildren, Turk and Sundee Shasteen of Lisbon, David (Lacey) Foreman of Salem, Autumn (Tom) Nicholson of Salineville, Linsey Good of Lisbon, and Michael, Nicole, and Tiffany McFarland of Lisbon; six great grandchildren, Scotty, Colyn, and Aubree Foreman of Salem, Kaley and Madison Nicholson of Salineville, and Jazzy McCormick of Lisbon.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother, Lettie Miller; two brothers, James L. Miller and Francis Miller; and a great granddaughter, Alexis Foreman.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
