Columbiana- Lois Katherine Weyman, better known as ‘Sweetie’ by her adoring granddaughters, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 2, 2016 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

Lois was the second child, born at home, to Edwin L Resler & Ruth Blesh Resler on Aug. 30, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pa. She moved to Columbiana with her husband in 1952.

Mrs. Weyman graduated from Westview High School in 1945. She was a cheerleader, member of the National Honor Society, Literary Editor of the yearbook & active in the school plays & the Chorus.

Upon graduation, she attended Penn State University where she was active in campus life. A member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, she served on the Education Student Council, Secretary to the House of Representatives, President of the ACE, member of Pi Lambda Theta {education honorary}, President of Chimes {National Junior honorary}, Senior Board of “La Vie”, and Mortar Board {National Senior honorary}.

In 1949 she married her best friend, Jack, who passed away in 2010 after 62 years of a happy marriage. She taught second grade in Avonworth, PA for the next three years.

Upon their move to Columbiana [when Jack became Purchasing Agent for The William K. Staments Co.] she taught first grade in the Grace Reformed Church while Joshua Dixon School was being built. When their first child, David, arrived she left teaching to become a full-time homemaker.

Mrs. Weyman loved children. She operated a Nursery school from her home in 1960-1961. She also tutored children at her residence. When her youngest child, Katherine, went to Southside School she became a tutor at Joshua Dixon School. She returned to college at Kent to earn her certification for Learning Disabilities and became the first teacher of the Disabilities Unit at Southside School retiring in 1988.

Mrs. Weyman liked to cook & bake for her family. She enjoyed swimming, tennis, & walking the beaches with Jack, in Florida. She played bridge, liked to read, {especially The Bible} and auto-biographies. She looked forward every summer to family reunions with her siblings, who lived all over the U.S.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian in Columbiana, she served as Bible School Teacher & Director, Sunday School teacher & Superintendent, Treasurer & President of the Women's Association. Mrs. Weyman serves as Leader of the Prayer Circles. She was a member of Readers Guild, The Women's Club, & a Bridge Club. Mrs. Weyman was Co-founder of Community Christian Women in 1971. She also attends the One Spirit Family Christian Church in Boardman.

She leaves to mourn her passing three children: David Lee Weyman and his wife Debbie, of Youngstown, Dawna Elizabeth Weyman of Columbiana & Katherine Chapman and her husband Dan Hudock, of Columbiana. The delight of her later years were her two grandchildren, Jacquelyn Katherine and Madison Grace Chapman. She also leaves six step grandchildren, Michael & Christopher Frank of Texas and Luke, Ben, Josiah and Sarah Hudock.

She also leaves a brother, Dr. Edwin L. Resler (Frances) of Ithaca, NY, two sisters: Marilyn Leonard (Russ) of Mumford Cove, CN. & Jean Russell (Don) of Billings, MT. All are teachers. There are many nieces & nephews in FL., NY., CN., TX., & CA.

According to her wishes Mrs. Weyman was cremated and there will be no calling hours. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, November 13th at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana, Ohio with Pastor Fritz Nelson officiating. Assisting with the service will be Rev. Don Monaco, pastor of the One Spirit Family Christian Church.
