Lois (James) Gahagan Barnett, 78, passed away after a brief illness at Forum Hospital (north side). She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Born in Youngstown, Ohio March 24, 1926, daughter of Myron James and Leota (Walker) McDonald. Graduated from South High School (Youngstown, Oh) June 1944, and attended Youngstown College. She was a past president of Lynn Kirk PTA in Austintown, Oh, and secretary of Austintown Band Parents Club. For five years she was a Blue Bird and Campfire Girls leader. In 1965 the family moved to St. Clair Shores, Michigan (near Detroit) and there she helped organize the Band Parents Club for Lake Shore High School. She worked as a Health Care Claims Adjuster, in both the Youngstown and Detroit areas, retiring as Supervisor in the Detroit area. Mrs. Barnett is survived by her husband Thomas F. Barnett whom she married July 26, 1975, her son Charles L. (Jeanne) Gahagan of Moreno Valley, CA, a daughter, Barbara (Edward) Smith of Washington, MI, a son Thomas J. Gahagan of Port Charlotte, FL., and a son Michael J. (Kathy) Gahagan of Boardman, OH. Four step children, Susan (Jim) Mosley of Hazel Park, MI, Larry Barnett of Hadley, MI, Dianne Hunter of Hamtramck, MI, Gary Barnett of Hadley, MI and nineteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Thomas and Ann James, with whom she made her home. Her first husband, Charles L. Gahagan, died Sept 1, 1970. Her later years were spent in Columbiana, Ohio and North Fort Myers, Florida. Family and friends may call Sunday July 25th, from 1:00 to 3:00pm or 6:00 to 9:00pm Sunday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Monday July 26th at 11:00am at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Robert McCreight will be Officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
