Lillian S. Kirk

Sebring, OH - Lillian S. Kirk, 93, of 800 S.15th Street, died at 11:14 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at Crandall Medical Center. Dr. & Mrs. Kirk had been residents at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, OH since 2002.

Lillian Kirk was born June 22, 1918 in Fairhope, Alabama, a daughter of William B. and Edith Wyles Stanley. She grew up in Alabama and North Carolina and then attended Olney Friends Boarding School in Barnesville, OH where she graduated in 1937.

In 1944, Lillian married Robert Kirk of Middleton, OH. In 1954, they settled in Smithville, OH where Dr. Kirk worked as an Osteopathic Physician for 33 years. Lillian worked as a homemaker raising their 3 children. Later she marketed her great cooking and sewing skills by giving cooking demonstrations at Ohio Power and making clothing alterations at Beulah Bechtels in Wooster, OH. Lillian and Dr. Kirk spent their retirement years in Middleton, OH, Englewood, FL, and Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, OH.

Lillian Kirk was a life-long member of the Society of Friends (Quakers). She was also a member of 4 Assembly of God Churches, most recently at Real Life Church in Salem, OH. Lillian was also active in Women's Aglow and served as a Caring Friend at Copeland Oaks. She will long be remembered for her generous gift of hospitality and her unconditional love toward all.

Lillian is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Dwight) Schattschneider of Tampa, FL and Jan (Deryll) Amstutz of Hillsboro, KS; a son, Joe (Linda) Hershberger-Kirk of Millersburg, OH; a brother, Raymond (Huldah) Stanley of Sebring; seven grandchildren, Lisa (David) Montgomery of Sarasota, FL, Mark (Madeline) Schattschneider of Tampa, FL, Rachel (Aaron) Stuckey of Rochester, NY, Sarah (Diep) Le of Arcadia, CA, Bethany (Tim) Schrag of Laurelville, PA, Nathan (Larinda) Amstutz of Goessel, KS and Emilie Hershberger-Kirk of Millersburg, OH; as well as ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Kirk; two sisters, Ethel Hartley and Louesa Kirk and three brothers, Loran Stanley, Clayton Stanley, and Ralph Stanley.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in the chapel of Copeland Oaks in Sebring, OH. Gifts in memory of Mrs. Kirk may be given to Copeland Life Care at Copeland Oaks, 800 S. 15th Street, Sebring, OH 44672.
