Columbiana – Lester Leroy Travis, 84, of Columbiana, died Saturday, August 01, 2015 at Hospice House in Poland.
Mr. Travis was born June 30, 1931, in Youngstown, a son of, the late, Elmer and Mildred Ackerman Travis.
Lester had been employed as a lineman for Ohio Bell for 36 years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Travis served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 of the American Legion.
His wife, the former, Esterlee Joy McMaster, whom he married March 28, 1953, preceded him in death January 19, 1993.
He is survived by a daughter, Cindy L. DePillo of Columbiana; a son, Merle L. Travis of Leetonia, three grandsons, Eric and Kyle Travis and Jon-Lee DePillo; two great granddaughters, Isabella and Ryley Travis; and a great grandson, Kadin Travis.
A grandson, Bobby DePillo, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Mark Plegge officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 of the American Legion.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, prior to the funeral service.
