New Waterford - Ledia "Lill" Butera, 90, was reunited with her husband, John, on what would have been his birthday, Monday, November 14, 2016.
Mrs. Butera was born March 8, 1926 in Wayne County, MI, the daughter of Carlo and Katherine Vena Antimi.
She had worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and retired from American Standard in Salem.
Lill was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild and Rosary Cenacle. She was also a member of Arrowhead bowling leagues and was the first person at Arrowhead Lanes to pick up the 7-10 split. She loved playing BINGO. In retirement, she enjoyed a trip to Italy with her son, cruises with her daughter, and enjoyed going to concerts, and attending Pirate and Steelers games. The Steelers were her favorite and she was in Canton for virtually all their Hall of Fame inductions. She always thought of others first and until the moment she died, she was continuously praying the rosary. A 90th birthday party on March 8th was a true highlight for her.
Her husband, John Ernest Butera, whom she married April 24, 1954, preceded her in death on March 31, 1979.
Ledia is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Robert) Wiery of Columbiana; a son, John Butera, with whom she made her home in New Waterford; four step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including, Diana Siclare of Pittsburgh, PA; and two dear friends, Pearl Houser and Clara Burt.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jennie (Paul) Siclare and three brothers, Dino, Lawrence and Albert Antimi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana with Father Christopher Cicero officiating.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday in Holy Souls Cemetery, 4772 Campbells Run Rd, Robinson Township, PA 15205.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Warrrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana where a Rosary Service will be held at 2 p.m.
Her family would like to send out a special thank you to her devoted caregivers; Peggy Haggerty of Visiting Angels; Marilyn Hatch, Peggy King, Cara Orr, and Tiff Aitken; and the staff of Hospice of the Valley, especially Ruth Ann Reiner, Zina Hancock, Sam Chirico and Janet-Yeagley-Donaldson.
