Leah Elizabeth Worley, 89, of Leetonia, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at her home.
She was born March 26, 1920 in Trainer, PA to the late Esther M. Hardy and later moved to Mt. Rainier, MD.
She worked at Pathfinder Publishing Co. and Army Times in Washington, DC. She was also a homemaker, interpreter for the deaf, substitute school teacher, Bible teacher at summer camps for deaf youth, led an adult deaf ladies Bible Study, and was an avid crocheter and for many years crocheted for Tiny Hugs and Stitches. For most of her life she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Rainier where she taught deaf youth in Sunday School, interpreted worship services, taught sign language, & worked in the Women's Missionary Union. She moved to Ohio in 1988 and was a member of the Columbiana Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Robert Eugene Worley, whom she married on May 30, 1942. She is also survived by her sons, Rexford E. (Audra) Worley of Youngstown and Roger E. (the late Jeanette) Worley of Glen Burnie, MD; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Wilson of Leetonia, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
There will be a private family service with Pastor Matt Ferguson and Pastor Nathaniel Wilson her grandson, officiating.
The family requests no flowers. Monetary contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Temple, 230 Lettie Avenue, Campbell, OH 44405, or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512 in her memory.
