Lawrence "Larry" A. Davis

Columbiana, OH - Lawrence "Larry" A. Davis, retired professor, passed away early Saturday morning, January 14th, after an unexpected and severe illness. He was the youngest child born to Bales C. Davis and Elma Myer Davis on September 10, 1942. Larry graduated from Boardman High School, attended Youngstown State University, where he received his bachelor's degree, and then completed his graduate studies earning a master's from Kent State University. He returned to Youngstown State University to teach industrial marketing for 35 years and, while doing so, was involved with his students in a purchasing association. Besides the academics, Larry worked during college, summers of his teaching tenure, and subsequent years on various projects concerning excavation; construction; property purchase, sale, and management; as well as numerous mechanical endeavors. He was a Renaissance man in the modern era and could accomplish most anything he set his mind to do. Larry enjoyed fishing with his son in earlier years and travelled with Connie throughout their time together. Larry is survived by his beloved life partner, Constance Witt; his son, Dan Davis; Connie's son and daughter-in-law, Devin and Jaime Witt; grandchildren, Collin and Paige Witt; one sister, Virginia (Don) Garver; his sister-in-law, Joyce Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relations. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bales A. Davis. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Pastor Joshua Conley officiating.
