Laura A. Metzler

Columbiana - Laura A. Metzler, 96, of 907 S. Main Street, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at her home.

Miss Metzler was born January 22, 1915 in Mahoning County, a daughter of the late Harvey A. and Edith Rickert Metzler and was a 1932 graduate of North Lima High School where she was valedictorian. Miss Metzler led a life of dedication to her church and service to others through her work with missions both home and abroad. She served as a secretary for over 20 years at the Bethany Christian High School of Goshen, IN, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the North Lima Mennonite Church.

Laura was loved by many nieces and nephews. Her family was very important to her and the legacy she leaves is the example she set by living her life following the teachings of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Rena Cullar, Sarah Metzler, Ruth Steiner, and Mildred Steiner; and one nephew and one niece.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the North Lima Mennonite Church, North Lima with Pastor Robert Wengerd officiating. Burial will be in Midway Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday. Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Memorial tributes may be directed to either the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), the North Lima Mennonite Church, or the Mennonite Mission Network.
