Leetonia - August 22, 2009 - Laura M. Holisky, 81, of Columbia Street, died Saturday morning at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman following a brief illness.

Laura was born July 13, 1928 in Columbiana, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Bishop Hough and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a loving mother and wife and had also worked at Heck's Restaurant and Theron's Country Store, both of Columbiana.

An avid card player, she loved to camp, especially at Atwood Lake, Timashamie, and Chaparral Campgrounds.

Her husband, John R. Holisky, whom she married October 4, 1947 died June 18, 1997.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Rich) Oxley of Leetonia; five sons, Duke Holisky of Leetonia, David (LuAnn) Holisky of Columbiana, Vinnie (Amy) Holisky of Greenford, Dennis (Pam) Holisky of Poland, and Scott (Bridget) Holisky of Lancaster, PA; five sisters, Esther (Richard) Gaither of Columbus, Faye Morrison of Sarasota, FL, Gloria Richards of Tampa, FL, Charlotte (Robert) Battle of Akron, and Cathy Hahner of Yorba Linda, CA; three brothers, Walter (Mary) Hough of Salem, Jim Hough of Columbiana, and Chuck (Norma) Hough of Valdosta, GA; 11 grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Mellott, Laura Lynn Oxley, Mindy (Steve) Houlette, Katie and Samantha Holisky, Kellen, Rachael, and Andrew Holisky, Dennis Jr. and Chelsea Holisky, Kourtney Holisky; three step grandchildren, Bill, Josh, and Cody Hiznay; and five great grandchildren, Alexa, Tyler, and Peyton Mellott, Sefton and Ashten Houlette.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Holisky; a sister, Tillie Lopshansky, and a brother, Jack Hough.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.

The family wishes to thank all of the doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman for their care and compassion.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Leetonia Library. Arrangements were made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
