Columbiana-November 15, 2011-Larry J. Lavorata, Sr, 73, died at 5:44 am Tuesday at Hospice House in Poland.
Mr. Lavorata was born April 6, 1938 in Fairmont, West Virginia, a son of Rocco and Angeline Fisher Lavorata and had lived in Columbiana the past 35 years, previously living in Canfield and Michigan.
Larry was a supervisor at the General Motors van plant in Lordstown for many years, retiring in 1994. He served in the US Marine Corps. Larry was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana and the Knights of Columbus.
His wife the former, Catherine A. Pellegrin, whom he married June 17, 1961 died January 1, 2009.
He is survived by his son, Larry J. (Jill) Lavorata, Jr. of Austintown; his two daughters, Cathy Jo (Robert) O'Donnell of Struthers and Jodie L. (Brad) Kiehl of Negley; five sisters, Rose Beafore, Josephine Warash, Louise Ragona and Pauline (Bob) Accica all of Michigan and Jeannie (Joseph) Piantedosi of Massachusetts; a brother, Louie Lavorata of Jekyll Island, GA. Larry was a loving, adoring Pa to his four grandchildren, Nicole and Zachary Kiehl and Anthony and Austin Lavorata.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana, OH with Reverend Gabriel Yablonsky officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont, West Virginia on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Richard Ulam officiating.
