East Palestine, OH July 5, 2012-Larry R. Keating, 64, died at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Hospice House in Poland.
Mr. Keating was born April 28, 1948 in Youngstown, a son of Richard and Thelma Woods Keating and had lived in this area all of his life.
Larry was a tube operator for Tube Tech, Inc. in East Palestine for 30 years retiring in 2010. He had also worked for Ward Bus Plant in Darlington and for the street department in East Palestine. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and served in the US Navy on the carrier USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War.
As a youngster he participated in competitive roller-skating dance with his twin sister, Sherry. Larry was also an avid motorcyclist and car enthusiast.
He is survived by his companion of 37 years, Geraldine Liberty, a step-daughter, Tammy (Scott) McCormick of Massillon; a step-son, Ronald L. (Lindsay) Liberty of Leetonia; four sisters, his twin, Sherry (Gary) Rodgers of Ellsworth, Melody (Tom) Evans of East Palestine, Tammy McKay of Ellsworth and Holly (Ron) Keating Watt of Columbus; five grandchildren, Hailey McCormick, Zachary McCormick, Jarett McCormick, Gavin Liberty and Devin Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
