Poland - May 7, 2005 - Larry E. Esterly, 66, of Poland, died Saturday evening at his home.
Mr. Esterly was born December 2, 1938 in New Waterford, the son of Eugene Henry and Maxine J. Young Esterly and had lived in Poland since 1981, coming from New Waterford.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State University and his Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. He taught political science at Youngstown State University for 30 years, retiring in 1992, when he was given the title, professor emeritus. He was the pre-law advisor at YSU for many years and was a member of the American Political Science Association. During that time he received the Walter E. and Caroline H. Watson Foundation Distinguished Professor Award in 1975-1976. He was appointed to the Board of Trustees for Youngstown State University in 1997 and was currently serving as chairman.
He is survived by his wife, the former Donna J. Crans, whom he married August 29, 1981 and his dear friends, Jack and Ruth Frankenburg of Poland and sons Scott and Mark Frankenburg. He will be dearly missed by his wife and University friends.
Private services and interment will take place in New Waterford Cemetery, New Waterford, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maag Library at Youngstown State University.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana.
