L. Jane Zellem

East Palestine- L. Jane Zellem, 84, of East Palestine, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at Hospice House in Poland.

She was born December 7, 1931 in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Wylie Harrison and Edith Marie Alaback Abbott.

She worked in the East Palestine School System from 1973 to 2010 when she retired as the secretary to the superintendent. She attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church of East Palestine and was well known as an avid reader.

Her husband, Michael Stephen Zellem, whom she married December 14, 1956, preceded her in death on April 14, 1992.

She is survived by two nieces; Jackie Lyn Alexander of New Milford, CT and Linda Caventer McMath of Ferndale MI.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Janemarie Elizabeth Zellem, a sister Dorothy Abbott Caventer and a nephew David Scott Caventer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday August 4, 2016 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 at the funeral home.
