Leetonia, OH-March 10, 2011-Kevin E. Thompson, 52, of Leetonia died on Thursday evening, March 10, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Mr. Thompson was born March 29, 1958 in Salem, a son of James Edwin and Pauline B. Meek Thompson.
Kevin was a 1976 graduate of David Anderson High School in Lisbon. He was an owner and operator of Thompson Brothers, KD Coal of New Springfield.
He was a member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ where he served as a Sunday School teacher, youth minister and deacon.
Kevin was a member and past master of the New Lisbon Lodge #65 F. & A.M. and the Al Koran Shrine Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville. He was a baseball coach for Leetonia Little League and Pony League.
Besides his father, Ed Thompson of Columbiana, he is survived by his wife, the former Vickie L. Poynter, whom he married November 11, 1988; three daughters, Rachel Scott of Canfield, Erika Scott of Lisbon and Ashley Thompson of Leetonia; his son, Joshua Thompson of Leetonia; three brothers, Donald (Mickie) Thompson, David (Kay) Thompson and Daniel (Jill) Thompson all of Leetonia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Reverend Jenna Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where Masonic Services will be held at 6:45 p.m.
