Katherine Elaine Burbick

Columbiana, OH Katherine Elaine "Kathy" Burbick, 68, of 3263 Middleton Road, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman after a brief illness.

Mrs. Burbick was born April 16, 1942 in Salem, a daughter of Steve and Velma Shores Karnofel. She had been employed as a secretary and bookkeeper at National Refractories, Columbiana and the former Ohio Tool. She had also worked at the Salem Chamber of Commerce.

She was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher and served on the Board of Parish Education. She was a member of the Columbiana Business & Professional Women where she had held many offices. She was a 4H advisor for the Fairfield Clover Leaves 4H Club for 38 years and worked on the project fair committee. She was also a member of the Farm Credit Board and the Buckeye Dairy Boosters.

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother to her mother of Columbiana; her husband, Dale Franklin Burbick, whom she married November 7, 1964; a son, Richard Dale Burbick of Columbiana; a daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Burbick-Rothwell of Columbiana; and three grandchildren, Dylan, Dalton, and Catherine-Isabella. She is also survived by a sister, Carol (Donald) Burbick of Columbiana; a brother, Barry (Sharon) Karnofel of Leetonia; several sisters and brothers in law; and 98 plus nieces and nephews.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Karnofel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church with the Reverend W. David H. Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 1-3 and 6-9 p.m. on Monday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for either the 4-H General Fund, Lisbon, OH or The Jerusalem Lutheran Church Relay for Life Fund.
