June L. Oswalt

East Palestine, OH - July 26, 2008 - June L. Oswalt, 85, of 1291 N. Market Street, died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday at Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana following a short illness.

Mrs. Oswalt was born August 9, 1922 in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Paul E. and Myrtle Ivy Shively Bowen and had lived in East Palestine since 1965 coming from Crestline, OH.

June was a clerk for the Crestline Automobile Association for several years as well as a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in East Palestine where she was a member of the choir and the Worship and Music Committee. She was an avid bowler and served as secretary for the Twilight Bowling League for 20 years and secretary for 16 years for the Wednesday Afternoon Trio League. June was inducted into the Salem Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2001.

Her husband, Eugene H. Oswalt, whom she married June 12, 1941, preceded her in death January 8, 2005.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Julia) Oswalt of Mansfield, OH; her three daughters, Sandra L. Clary of Struthers, Rhonda (Paul) Simmons of East Palestine and Wendy (David) Heiland of Mechanicsburg, PA; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth Oswalt, Amy Oswalt (Martin Brennan), Timothy (Rebecca) Oswalt, Jill Oswalt da Silva (Tuca Santos da Silva), Shan (Jeannie) Clary, Erica (Mike) Palmer, Shannon (Robert) Liposky, Lindsay (Nicholaus) Kuzemchak, Kelly Simmons, Christopher Simmons, Dalton Heiland; seven great grandchildren, Ethan Oswalt, Abigail Oswalt, Joao Oswalt da Silva, Jose Oswalt da Silva, Christopher Clary, Amber Clary and Brittany Clary; and one great great granddaughter, Kristen Clary.

A son, Thomas Oswalt and a step sister, Ruth Horne also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Reverend Donald Pentz officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
