Julia Stefcik Zakany

Columbiana, - Julia Sefcik Zakany, 86, of 1229 Columbiana-Lisbon Road died at 10:05 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2006, in the Salem Community Hospital.

She was born January 1, 1920 in Colebrook, daughter of Frank and Mary Sashella Sefcik and graduated from Colebrook High School in 1937.

She married Albert Zakany of Bloomfield, OH, on July 30, 1938.

Julia worked at Packard Electric as a welder doing Defense work in the mid 1940's. At the end of the war she retired to be a full time home keeper. She loved to bake and cook and enjoyed having family get togethers at Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries etc.

Julia and Al lived in Ellenton, FL from 1976 until 1990 when they moved back to Ohio to be near their large expanded family, from both sides living in a 60-mile radius of their home in Columbiana.

She was very active in the church in Beaver, PA and Palmetto, FL, until her 75th birthday.

They have traveled extensively having visited 48 of the 50 states, the exceptions being Alaska and Wisconsin.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Alan of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Jackie Zakany of Rochester, PA; two sisters, Rose Gedeon and Helen Sefcik, both of Bloomfield; three grandsons, Ryan and Alan, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and Sean of Vandergrift, PA.

Her brothers, Joe and Stanley Sefcik preceded her in death.

The Reverend Scott Parker will conduct a memorial service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday November 25th in the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana.
