Joseph Anthony Lopshansky

Leetonia - Colonel Joseph Anthony Lopshansky, 84, of 40836 Crestview Road, died at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at his home following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Joe was born August 10, 1927 in Poland, OH, a son of Louis and Alexandria Stathi Lopshansky and had lived in Leetonia since 1951. He served in the US Army during WWII. After serving in the Army, he drove truck for various companies for many years. He also farmed the family farm for several years and began his auction career in 1961 when he founded Crestview Auction where he remained an active auctioneer for the past 51 years.

His wife, the former Martha M. Hough, whom he married August 10, 1951 died June 14, 2002.

He is survived by two sons, Jay Allen Lopshansky of New Waterford and Martin Joseph Lopshansky of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Joe Congemi officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. on Friday.
