Leetonia, OH-January 7, 2008-Joseph John Kiliany, age 86, of 110 Oak Street, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Joseph was born August 22, 1921 in Leetonia, OH, a son of John and Anna Dupal Kiliany and had lived here all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He worked as a packer and shipper for the former Mullins Manufacturing Co. and American Standard in Salem. Prior to that he was a projector operator at the former Manos Theater in Columbiana.
He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia, FOE #1496 and the Joe Williams Post #131 of American Legion.
His wife, Almira Balevre, whom he married June 7, 1946 died August 15, 1988.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (JoAnne) Bogdan; two sons, John Kiliany and Thomas (Regina) Kiliany all of Leetonia; three sisters, Mary Dudick of Leetonia, Mrs. Wayne (Dorothy) Zimmerman of Columbiana, Mrs. Ralph (Eleanor) Zimmerman of Washingtonville; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Briggs; a brother, Thomas Kiliany; and a granddaughter Bobbie Joe Stein.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia with Reverend Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will follow in the Historic Hope Cemetery, Salem. Friends may call from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
