Washingtonville, OH-March 4, 2004-Joseph W. Cross, age 59, died at his home following a four-month illness.

Mr. Cross was born August 14, 1944 in Leetonia, a son of Joseph and Elsie Greenawalt Cross and had lived in this area all of his life. He was a laborer for General American Transportation Corporation in Sharon, PA for 20 years retiring in 1984.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #316 in Salem.

He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Cross and her mother Tammy Slezak of Greensburg, PA; two sons, Joseph Cross, US Navy, Norfolk, VA and Dominic (Tammy) Cross of Walbridge, OH; four sisters, Nancy (Art) Nester and Connie (Mark) Poffenberger of Leetonia, Deborah Cannon and Diana (Mark) Reynolds of Alliance; five brothers, Michael (Linda) Cross and Jeffrey (Eva) Cross of Salem, Mark (Billie Ann) Cross and Randy Cross of Leetonia, and Dennis (Shirley) Cross of Alliance; the sunshine of his life, his grandson, Dominic Cross of Walbridge, OH; several nieces and nephews and many special friends including Danny Dattilio, James Altman, Larry Schultz, Bobby Goetz and Frank Goetz.

A son, Timothy Cross is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, March 8, 2004 at Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with the Reverend Edward Brienz of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Square Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
