Leetonia-July 3, 2009- John T. Theil, Sr., 74, died suddenly Friday evening at his home.
Mr. Theil was born July 27, 1934 in Monaca, PA, son of John S. and Mary Rill Theil and had lived in Leetonia most of his life.
John was a truck driver for Youngstown Cartage where he owned and operated his own fleet of trucks. He also worked for Borden Dairy for 15 years before retiring in 1995.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia FOE #1496 and the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion. John served in the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, the former Norma E. Mincks, whom he married June 9, 1957; a daughter, Christine (Michael) Quinn of Canfield; two sons, John (Carla) Theil, Jr. of Columbiana and Steven (Theresa) Theil of Damascus; four sisters, Ester Hallaman of Boardman, Sara Stumpo of Poland, Mary Ann (John) Morgan of Long Island, NY and Susan (William) Snyder of Columbiana; a brother, Robert Theil of Espyville, PA; and seven grandchildren, Kaitlan and Aaron Quinn, John III, Jacob and Kendall Theil and Emily and Steven Theil.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
