John D. Slagle

Rogers - December 18, 2006 - John D. Slagle, age 62, of 47155 SR 154, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Slagle was born June 2, 1944 in Kittanning, PA, a son of the late Harold and Ethel Pearl Bish Slagle and had lived in this area most of his life. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as a roofer for Simon's Roofing of Youngstown for several years. Prior to that, he had been employed at Babcock and Wilcox in Beaver Falls, PA.

He is survived by his wife, the former Madelon M. Dailey, whom he married June 1, 1968; a daughter, Crystal Slagle of Struthers; a son, Harold Matthew (Marcia) Slagle of Rogers; two sisters, Donna Davis and Ruth Wylie, both of East Palestine; two brothers, James Slagle of East Palestine and Edward Slagle of Rogers; and two granddaughters, Bethany Ann Slagle and Cassondra Kay Feezle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Delmar Logston officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Military honors will be rendered by the combined group from American Legion Post #31 and VFW Post #4579, both of East Palestine.
