Columbiana May 29, 2006 -John H. Senior, age 90, of 125 North Middle Street died at 1:00 a.m. Monday in the Salem Community Hospital.
He was born April 20, 1916 in Washingtonville, son of James and Mary Burns Senior.
He had lived in Columbiana for most of his life.
He had been a waste treatment engineer for Columbiana for 31 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Columbiana Church of Nazarene, the York Drexler Post #5532 Veterans of Foreign Wars at Washingtonville, the Joe Williams Post #131, and American Legion at Leetonia. He served as an Army tank crewman in the Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno campaigns in during WW II.
He was preceded in death June 13, 2000 by his wife, Dorothy M. Buzard whom he married July 1, 1947.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Randy (Mary) Barnes of Columbiana; two step daughters, Mrs. Doris Crouse of Columbiana and Mrs. Joyce Brooke of New Waterford; a sister; Mrs. Mildred Pieren of Leetonia; eleven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Howel, a sister, Nora Barber; and three brothers, Charles, Lebbie and Robert Senior.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home with Pastor Jan Winnale officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
