Lisbon- March 21, 2008-John P. Remish, age 70, died at 5:34 a.m. Friday at Salem Community Hospital.
John had lived at the Pleasant View Nursing Home for the past two years.
Mr. Remish was born January 10, 1938 in New Waterford, a son of John and Agnes Blazvick Remish and had lived in this area all of his life.
John had been an appliance repairman for Sears and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in East Palestine. He served in the US Army and was a member of Clipper Aerie #2415 Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Edward L. McGuckin Post #4579 VFW. John was also an avid radio control enthusiast and an amateur radio operator. His call letters were W8DHW.
He is survived by his mother Agnes Remish of Salem; three sisters, Janett Louise (Karl) Remish-Dancik of Summerstown, Ontario, Canada, Judith Ann Johnson of San Antonio, TX and Jaunita Sheerer of New Waterford; and a brother, Joseph (Kathy) Remish of Columbiana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Reverend Dan Cipar officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
