John Wayne Pieren

Leetonia, OH-July 2, 2012- John W. Pieren, 96, formerly of Chestnut St. in Leetonia, died at 1:20 pm Monday at Essex of Salem II.

Mr. Pieren was born June 1, 1916 in Moultrie, OH, a son of John L. and Bertha Speakman Pieren and had lived in this area since the early 50's, coming from Minerva.

John was a truck driver for various companies in the area and had also been a farmer.

His wife, the former Mildred M. Senior, whom he married October 10, 1942 died January 20, 2007.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen (Gary) Sloan of Columbiana; three sons, Richard (Mary Jane) Pieren of Salem, James (Molly) Pieren of Salem and Ralph "Jay" Pieren of Columbiana; a sister, Wanda Price of Alliance; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Glenn Pieren, a sister, Jeanne Picknell and a brother, Clair Pieren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Douglas DeMar officiating. Burial will be in Washingtonville Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
