Leetonia-May 9, 2007-John Paul McCoy, age 56, of 464 Somer Street, died at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday at his home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. McCoy was born April 13, 1951 in Salem, a son of Andrew "Ducky" and Frances McNeil McCoy and had lived in this area all of his life. He was a shipper for American Standard in Salem.
John served in the US Marines. He was a member of York Drexler Post #5532 VFW in Washingtonville, the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion where he had served as chaplain, Leetonia FOE #1496, the Salem Amvets Post 45 and the 40&8 in Columbiana.
John is survived by his wife, the former Michelle R. Baringer, whom he married September 12, 1992; a son, John Paul (J.P.)McCoy II at home; a step son, Kenny Gordon of Ocala, FL; and four brothers, Jim (Cathy) McCoy, Tom (Melody) McCoy, Andrew (Debbie) McCoy all of Leetonia and Donald (Viola) McCoy of Columbiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Reverend Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery where the Salem Amvets VFW Honor Guard will accord military honors. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
