Washington, PA - John Eskay, 97, of 880 South Main Street, formerly of East Palestine, OH and Leetonia, OH, died at 12:40 AM Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.
Mr. Eskay was born May 10, 1915 in Leetonia, OH, a son of the late John and Victoria Dubiel Ohotnicky. He had been employed as a welder and assembler at Industrial Shredder, Salem, OH for many years.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia, OH.
His wife, the former Mary I. Davner, whom he married July 19, 1947 died January 24, 2007.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann (Rick) Istnick of East Palestine; a son, John (Barbara) Eskay of Washington, PA; three brothers, Francis Eskay of Alliance, OH, Robert Eskay of Leetonia, OH and Paul Eskay of Salem, OH; four grandchildren, Rick (Anna) Istnick of Huntersville, NC, Brad (Shanna) Istnick of Twin Lakes, OH, Michael Eskay and Krista Eskay, both of Pittsburgh, PA; and two great grandchildren, Sofia Istnick and Sebastian Istnick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia, OH (Please Meet at Church), with the Reverend Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH. Memorial donations may be directed to the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Association.
