Joe A. Burkhart

Columbiana- Joe A. Burkhart, age 86 of Columbiana, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born on March 1, 1932 in Columbiana, a son of the late Clayton and Florence Sauerwein Burkhart.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War.  He worked as a tool repairman for General Motors, retiring in 1991 and was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Columbiana.

His wife, Paula Todd Burkhart, whom he married on July 1, 1982, preceded him in death on February 15, 2015.

He is survived by a son, Eric Burkart of Columbiana; step son, Brad Peck of Clearwater, FL; step daughter, Lisa Gaskill of Salem; brother, Tate Burkhart of Bluffton, SC, and a sister, Suzane Manzi of Canfield.  Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by a son, J. Fritz Burkhart and a brother, Ray Burkhart.

Per his wishes, no services will be held.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
