Joan A. Grunick

Leetonia - Joan A. Grunick, age 92, of Leetonia, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Essex of Salem III in Salem.

She was born on February 1, 1925 in Leetonia, a daughter of the late John Mercure and Josephine Perry Mercure.

Joan was a lifetime area resident and had worked as a homemaker. She also worked at the Defense Factory in Columbiana during World War II and as a hairdresser in Leetonia for several years. Joan was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and enjoyed crafts.

Her husband, John V. Grunick, whom she married May 10, 1947, died on May 25, 1982.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Jack) Falzetta of Columbiana, and Connie (George) Hull of Leetonia; a daughter in-law, Barb Grunick of Washingtonville; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael Grunick and a sister Virginia Zabawa.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Woods Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Leetonia.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia.

The family would like to thank the staff at Essex III for the compassionate care they gave Joan.
