Jesse Jon Mcmaster

Columbiana- Jesse Jon McMaster, age 88, of Columbiana, died on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center, New Middletown.

He was born on the family farm on July 28, 1930 in Columbiana, the son of the late Albert and Helen Esterly McMaster.

Jesse was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a 1st lieutenant during the Korean War.  He was a member of Grace Church, Columbiana where he served as past president of the church consistory.  He had a passion for farming and received his bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry from The Ohio State University.  Jesse was a member and past president of the Fairfield Ruritan Club, past president of the Ohio Vegetable Growers and also past president of the Ohio Potato Growers Association.  He loved spending time in the outdoor.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most importantly, farming.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn “Lynn” Morris McMaster, whom he married on February 16, 1952; two sons, Jeffrey (Debbie) McMaster of Columbiana and David McMaster of Columbiana; two daughters, Lori (Todd) Wilson of Algona, Iowa and Julie (Scott) Franks of West Middlesex, PA.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Jesse was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Travis.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Services will be held on Friday, at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert C. Joy officiating.

Burial will be at the Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion.
