Jeff L. Welsh

Leetonia - Jeffrey Lee Welsh, 59, of Leetonia, died at his home on Monday, February 3, 2014.

Mr. Welsh was born January 29, 1955 in Salem, a son of the late John A. and Dorothy L. Evans Welsh.

He had enjoyed camping, weight lifting, wrestling, farming and tending to his flower garden, as well as vacationing on various cruise lines. Jeff held a special place in his heart for special needs children and had been employed as a special needs teacher at Brookfield Schools for 30 years and later at the Robert Bycroft School in Lisbon for 5 years. He also enjoyed volunteering his time working with these children at such events as the MRDD Prom. He will be deeply missed by his family and his loving dog, Lizzie Mae.

Jeff is survived by a brother, Gary J. (Mary) Welsh of Leetonia; two nieces, Tina (Michael) Mellington of Lisbon and Heather Welsh of Leetonia; two nephews, Chad (Jennifer Oliver) Welsh of Columbiana and Todd (Jennifer) Welsh of Hubert, NC and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his lifelong companion, Lee Pritchard and a sister, Gail Welsh.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 12 Noon, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Friends may call from 10-12 Noon on Saturday before the service. Jeffrey will be laid to rest in Oakdale Cemetery, Leetonia.
