Jean Smith

Jean Smith, 94, passed away Monday afternoon, March 27, 2017 at Christian House in East Palestine.

Mrs. Smith was born March 7, 1923 in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Ralph and Edna Ellis Reddington and had lived in this area all of her life.

Jean was a secretary for the US Navy and also Deming Pump Manufacturing in Salem. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Jean had been a Blue Bird leader and active in her children and grandchildren's activities as well as a member of the former 20th Century Club.

Her husband, Robert F. Smith, whom she married October 7, 1943, died May 20, 1997.

She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Sheid of Crescent City, CA, Gayle Mahoney of Scottdale, PA and Nancy (Martin) Wolf of East Palestine; five grandchildren, Travis (Becky) Mahoney, Darcy(Steve) Rose, Meredith McLaughlin, Eric Wolf and Kayla (Ricky) Bricker; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ian Wolf.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the funeral home.
