Columbiana-Jean Weaver Parsly, 93, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
Mrs. Parsly was born October 6, 1917 in Columbiana, a daughter of Roy E. and Jean Garrard Weaver and had lived in this area most of her life.
Jean was a graduate of Ohio University. She was a librarian for the Columbiana School System for many years.
She had also worked for the Red Cross. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana where she was active in the church choir and bell choir as well as the women's circle. She was a past member of the Columbiana Women's Club, The Philologists, and the Reader's Guild.
Her husband, Edward Anderson Parsly, whom she married July 25, 1953 died February 3, 1996.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Dennis) Bailey of Edgewater, Maryland; her daughter-in-law, Cinthia (Edward) Madej of Boardman; two grandsons, Andrew Parsly and Evan Parsly.
She was preceded in death by her son, Geoffrey Parsly and two brothers, John Weaver and George Weaver.
Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana with Reverend Scott Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
