East Palestine - Janet M. Seagle, age 93 of East Palestine, passed away Saturday morning, May 3, 2025 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on October 30, 1931, in East Palestine, daughter of the late Harry and Ethel McIntosh Moore.

She was a proud graduate of East Palestine Class of 1949 and worked as a legal secretary throughout her career. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, East Palestine where she served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. Janet was involved in many community organizations, including First Worthy Advisor of the International Order of Rainbow Girls East Palestine Assembly #77, Past Mother Advisor of the East Palestine Assembly #77 and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star #381 East Palestine. She served as president of Tuesday Morning Ladies Golf League and the Town and Country Garden Club. She enjoyed sewing, golfing, gardening, etching glass, puzzles and most of all being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her husband of 49 years, Elbert L. Seagle, whom she married on August 8, 1952, preceded her in death on June 2, 2000.

Janet led by example to her seven daughters, Leigh Ann (David) Coon of Marietta, GA, Lori (Gary) Sneddon of East Palestine, Linda (Kevin) Watson of Dayton, Lizabeth (Steven) Beight of Peterburg, Laura (Jeff) Umphrey of Bourbonnais, IL, Lana ( Dr. Mark) Dumbauld of East Palestine, Leslie (Dr. Daniel Dankovich) Seagle of Boardman; her 12 loving grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Myers, Daniel (Stephanie Mora) Sneddon, Jessica (Frank) Felger, Matthew Watson, Annie (Nick) Kundert, Melissa (David) Madrid, Timothy (Adrienne Koegel) Doran, Brian Ashton, Kristina (Ty) Fox, Alec (Paige Hoxmeier) Dumbauld, Tom (Carlee May) Dumbauld and Steven (Breanne) Parker; and 20 great grandchildren, Jack, Noah, Layne, Wyatt, Wesley, Asher, William, Sophia, Andrew, Lukas, Maisie, Evelyn, Leni, Ryder, Tabitha, Toby, Griffin, Silas, Lily and was excited to be expecting Baby Dumbauld in October.

Janet’s legacy is one of love-love that she gave freely and abundantly to family, friends and those she cared for throughout her life. Her warmth will be deeply missed but forever remembered. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. In Janet’s memory, give love and hugs to your family.

A private service will be held at Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine and burial will be in Glenview Cemetery.
