Janet Rae (Mccoy) Yacopi

Austintown - Janet Rae Yacopi, 71, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 surrounded by her family at Hospice House, Poland.

Mrs. Yacopi was born May 21, 1953 in Youngstown, OH, the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret O'Brien McCoy and had lived in the area all of her life.  She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and Youngstown State University. She dedicated her entire career to child development and education mainly at Thumbs Up Preschool in Youngstown where she worked for over 35 years as a teacher and director.  She was also a member and past president of the Moose Lodge, Niles.

Most of all she will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, sister, Nana, and friend.  She was a truly selfless woman with a huge heart for others.  If you are the one of many who had the privilege of knowing her, for even a moment, you immediately knew her love, compassion, kindness, and empathy that she showed to everyone.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred Yacopi and they were to celebrate their 50th anniversary September 14th; her daughter, Stacy (Michael) Schesler of Gibsonia, PA; a brother, Terry (Cindy) McCoy of Leetonia; and her three grandchildren, Evan, Emma, and Eli.

It was the request of Mrs. Yacopi that no services be held.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44503.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.  Family and friends may view this obituary, sign the online guest book and send condolences to the family at www.familycareservices.com.
