Janet Lee Armstrong

Columbiana- Janet Lee Armstrong, age 82, of Columbiana, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Omni Manor Health Care Center, Austintown.

She was born on February 17, 1933 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Gard S. and L. Gladys Lettie Smith.

Mrs. Armstrong was a graduate of Southside High School and had worked as an office assistant for Myers Equipment for six years, retiring in 1991. She was a former resident of Austintown before moving to Columbiana in 1983 and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Janet was an avid golfer. She and her second husband “Army” Armstrong were lifetime members at Salem Hills Club where she scored a hole in one. Janet also enjoyed playing bridge and euchre, as well as, visiting the area casinos with her Columbiana friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale W. Cross and her second husband, Harold W. Armstrong.

She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Lee Bernstein of Youngstown; a son, Dale W. Cross Jr. of Niles; three step-daughters, Charity (Frank) Barcelona of St. Charles, IL, Caroline LaLumia of Boardman and Beth Ann (Paul) Bell of Leland, NC; a step-son, Walter Armstrong of Columbiana; three nieces, Karen Snyder, Kim Snyder and Kelly Trombitas and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A sister, Mary Lou Snyder also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Juliann Joy officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the funeral home.
