Listen to Obituary

Columbiana- James Edward Miller, 69, of Columbiana passed away on April 26, 2017.

He was born in Salem, Ohio, the oldest of two children to Carl and Charity Miller.

He was educated in Crestview public schools and later attended Ashland University and The Ohio State University, where he studied Agriculture.

He grew up working on the Willowbrook Dairy Farm, where he developed an eye for livestock photography. His ability to find the natural beauty in things led to traveling the world as a professional photographer, specializing in award-winning Holstein Cows. Throughout his travels, Columbiana remained his home, and where he wanted to raise his family; in 1983, he married Kathleen Chaffee and took over the family dairy farm. He later became a Register Investment Advisor and founded OnTrack Financial in Columbiana, where he and his family have been serving as local financial advisors for over 20 years.

Although Jim Miller has had a lasting impact on our community, his legacy is perhaps unknown to most. Over the last 37 years, Jim has been instrumental in writing a number of books that have helped millions of people recover from addiction, dependency, and substance abuse. His work has served as a light in the darkness for those in need; a spiritual guide that lead the journeys of countless people who were suffering.

Jim leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathleen; his son Jeremy Miller; daughter, Rebecca Miller Magnus; step-daughters, Amy Heizler and Megan Humphrey; step-son Shawn Humphrey; sister Mary Miller VanBuren; grandchildren Hailey Heizler, Caragh Christie and Jason Douglass Whitney-Humphrey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday April 29, 2017, at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.

Per his request, no services will be held.
