Leetonia - James F. (Mac) McCoy, 60, of Leetonia, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 at his home.

Mr. McCoy was born January 1, 1950 in Salem, a son of the late Andrew A. and Frances E. McNeil McCoy and had lived in the area all of his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Leetonia High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps with a tour of duty in Vietnam.

He had been employed for 36 years as a welder for Olenik Manufacturing Company, retiring in 2004. He was also employed as a lot attendant for five years at Columbiana Buick-Olds-Cadillac-Chevrolet.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and had been a member of the former First Presbyterian Church, Leetonia. He was also a member of the Leetonia Italian American Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1496 and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a lifetime member of Amvets Post #45 of Salem and York Drexler Post #5532 VFW where he was a past commander. He was a lifetime member and past commander of Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion and a lifetime member and past Chef de Gare of Columbiana County 40 & 8 Voiture #273 of Columbiana. He was a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #40 of Washingtonville and an endowed member of Wick Lodge #481 F. & A.M. of Youngstown. A 32 degree Mason, he was a lifetime member of the Ancient and Accepted Order of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown.

He is survived by his loving wife, the former Cathie L. Carnie, whom he married June 21, 1975; a son, James C. (J.C.) McCoy of Boardman; three brothers, Thomas A. (Melody) McCoy and Andrew A. (Debbie) McCoy, both of Leetonia and Donald K. (Viola) McCoy of Columbiana; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, John P. (Michelle) McCoy is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by Salem Amvets and Salem VFW Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia where the York Drexler Post VFW will conduct a Memorial Service at 8 p.m. Monday and Wick Lodge will conduct a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial tributes to either the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Brick Fund or Hospice of the Valley.
