James A. Kissel

Columbiana- James A. Kissel, age 87, of Columbiana, died on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Briarfield at Ashley Circle, Austintown.

He was born on April 2, 1932 in Columbiana, a son of the late Thomas and Grace Messersmith Kissel.

Jim was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War.  He worked for 32 years as a truck driver for Dart Trucking, Canfield, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana.He is survived by his wife, Marla Sitler Kissel whom he married on June 30, 1956; three sons, Ronald Kissel of Baltimore, MD., Roger Kissel of Fairfax, VA., and Richard Kissel of Columbiana, and two brothers, Leo Kissel of Colorado Springs, CO., and Kenneth Kissel of Omaha, NB.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren

.Jim was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Kissel.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Fritz Nelson officiating.

Burial will be at the Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
