Leetonia - April 8, 2008 - James Lathen Hall, Sr., age 90, of 40557 SR 344, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday at his home.
Jim was born on January 23, 1918 in Leetonia, a son of James and Elmira Davis Hall and was a lifelong resident of Leetonia. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
He had been employed as a maintenance foreman at the former Kaiser Refractories for many years, retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he had worked at the former Crescent Machine Company. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion.
Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Eileen Garlinda Mackey whom he married on August 30, 1940; a son, James L. (Barbara) Hall, Jr. of Lisbon; a daughter, Sandra E. (George III) Howard of Jacksonville, NC; three grandchildren, Heidi Jo Hall of Lisbon, Jennifer Jo (Brayden) Tucker of Lisbon, and George Albert Howard IV of Jacksonville, NC; and one great grandson, Lathen William James Tucker of Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Glenn Hall and Ted Hall; a sister, Pearl Bodendorfer; and a half sister, Susan Novak.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia and at the church one hour prior to the services on Friday.
